Second-largest theater chain in the world announced temporary closure of locations following latest announced delay of next James Bond movie release.

Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that “mega-movie theater chain Cineworld, the second largest exhibitor globally after AMC, is planning to temporarily close or keep shut all of its locations in the UK and the US,” as reported by Trilby Beresford, Pamela McClintock, and Alex Ritman in an article titled “Mega-Chain Cineworld Closing Regal Movie Theaters Following ‘No Time to Die’ Delay.”

The article went on to note that the “British-based company is the largest circuit in the UK with more than 120 sites, and the second-largest in North America, where it operates roughly 540 locations under the Regal Cinemas banner ….

Amid falling revenue over the last few months, Cineworld’s stock was down nearly 15 percent on Sept 23, ….

The closures in the UK are expected to put at risk as many as 5,500 jobs. Cineworld is reportedly [saying] that the industry is now ‘unviable.'”
