Michigan “Tourism Update” from Dave Lorenz, Vice President, Travel Michigan (from earlier this evening): “Attendees to last week’s Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism were treated to a healthy dose of positive forecasts for the future, mixed with timely advice on how to make those rather rosy predications a reality.

Our opening keynote speaker, Tori Barnes from the US Travel Association touched on major issues affecting the travel industry’s future, including the fact that EV technology will be here, sooner than it may seem, and smart destinations will need to make sure they are ready for the oncoming push to electric vehicles.

This is great news for Michigan, as we are already helping lead the way in innovative EV adoption strategies ….

Tori also talked about the many ways that USTA has helped the industry make it through these last two difficult years …. That includes advocating for the Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act, bipartisan legislation that I was pleased to see US Senator Gary Peters announce he would cosponsor ….

As we kick off a new campaign, we look forward to the arrival of a new season and the opportunities that await us.
