United States Air Force Colonel Christopher McDonald, director of the Kelly Johnson Joint All-Domain Innovation Center at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, provided press with a brief orientation on training capabililties and innovation efforts focused on the ways that future wars are anticipated to be fought. This was part of a tightly structured visit by Dr Kathleen H Hicks, US Department of Defense Secretary — hosted yesterday by Michigan Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow. [2-6]
After Secretary Hicks boarded her plane and departed, Macomb County Executive Mark A Hackel emphasized the importance of having such Michigan capabilities experienced first-hand, in-person. “We are doing things here that no one else is doing,” he said. [7,8]
On top of that, we have automotive and technology infrastructures that are already in place — those partnerships are established. Selfridge is isn’t going anywhere.
The way we make sure of that is to show that to important officials like Secretary Hicks, like we did today.
