People in this community often say that they feel they’ve come to know Paul Glantz personally — even if they’ve never met him. [1-4]

Sure, there’s a life-size cardboard cutout of his likeness in every Emagine Theatre lobby to indulge if not encourage I was here! patron selfies. He appears in on-screen videos wherever practical to remind audiences to silence their cell phones and pages before the features start. [5]

Who could forget “Emaginator”? “Em$gine Four”? The epic theater lobby light saber battle where he appeared at its climax? “Phone Busters” (Who you not gonna call!)? Or the send up for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? [6-11]

Sir Richard Branson has nothing on Paul Glantz. [12]

On the ground, Mr Glantz is there to host every new Emagine Theatre opening. Just in time for Christmas 2018 he was in Hartland Michigan. Two years ago, it was Saline. Not just in this place, but of it: Emagine Saline premiered with all proceeds going to benefit not-for-profits Saline Area Social Service and Foundation for Saline Area Schools (FSAS). [13-17]

After that? He’s regularly seen at the annual FSAS “Snowblast” fundraiser. He’s enthusiastically encouraged broader participation in Saline Celtic Festival. He provided space for the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce 2019 re-branding launch — and returned to the City of Saline later that same week to provide exclusive content as interview subject on its nascent “Chamber Chatter” podcast. [18-23]

When provide the opportunity to speak directly to Saline Journal readers, he’s always been available. Directly. With commentary seen nowhere else. On topics ranging from James Bond wristwatch choices to the 2018 Disney-Fox deal and what it could mean to local movie theater operations. [24-26]

“He really is exactly who you think he is,” said Sam Logan Khaleghi of SLK Media Group during discussion with Saline Journal at Emagine Entertainment corporate offices in Troy Michigan.

It’s truly amazing. The guy you see in the policy trailer, the guy you see at the opening, the guy who comes to ask your city council for permission to build a theater there — at lunch, at two o’clock in the morning: All the same guy. Paul Glantz really cares. He only hires people who really care. Employees. Crews.

Not just about people who are buying tickets to see movies in his theaters. That’s what people see. He also cares about people-people. Maybe they’ll never go to a movie because they don’t go to movies; but they need help. He wants to help them. He does help them. He can’t put up a theater in a community without wanting to know more about that community. He wants to know what they need and how he can help.

I’ve been working with him for years and I’ve never seen anything like it.

Although vignettes can be found there and about on the Internet, the team at Emagine Entertainment felt that it was time to produce a clear presentation of its values. More than “Here’s what we do and why we think it’s important,” it was to have added encouragement of “… and here’s why you should, too — and how.” [27]

With carefully crafted script in hand, principal videography was recorded on March 6 featuring Paul Glantz in his office. Emagine Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Boudreau worked as point, along with CEO Anthony LaVerde throughout. Sam Logan Khaleghi led three-man SLK Media Group crew. Saline Journal was invited to cover it behind the scenes; see our Flickr feed for a selection of exclusive photographs. [28-30]

The finished product was made available for public view this week. [31]

In addition to numerous scenes featuring groups and individuals who benefit from Emagine Entertainment philanthropy, ten logos are featured on screen at the midpoint.

  • American Heart Association [32]
  • Detroit Zoo [33]
  • Gleaners Food Bank [34]
  • jarc [35]
  • Judson Center [36]
  • Michigan Humane Society [37,38]
  • Mitch Albom [39]
  • Royal Oak Public Library [40]
  • The Salvation Army [41]
  • Variety Children’s Charity [42]

What about the sampling of organizational benefactors here in Saline that were referenced earlier in this article? Along with those in the growing number of communities in which Emagine Theatres are located, they serve as evidence of how much more that Emagine Entertainment is doing — too many to list.

Those who watch this new corporate video without being the least bit surprised by anything they see probably do know Paul Glantz as well as they first thought.
