Extend Your Memorial Day Commemorations with Visit to Yankee Air Museum

June 2, 2017 Dell Deaton

The Memorial Day Parade in Saline returned to Oakwood Cemetery this year. Appropriately so. [1] Better still, hopefully your interest in the underlying substance of service and sacrifice has been piqued by that event. Where ….

There is much more to Saline Community Education “Junior Theater” than its stage performances this weekend

March 11, 2019
If there is such a thing as perpetual motion, youth theater in Saline Michigan shows it. Little more than a week ago, Shrek the Musical finished a wonderful three-day run on our local high school stage. Saline Varsity Blues will begin holding auditions for its upcoming musical review starting tonight. [1,2] This Friday, Saline Community Education Cultural Arts will debut its 2019 “Junior Theater” this Friday at 7:00pm in the Liberty Auditorium. Subsequent performances will ....
Saline High School Drama Club "12 Angry Jurors"

“12 Angry Jurors” convene to decide one man’s fate in SHS Drama Club stage production November 22, 23, and 24, 2019

November 18, 2019
Sixty-five years ago, Ronald Rose wrote a teleplay focused on so much of what might happen after lawyers have made their closing arguments in a murder trial, and before final verdict was read. [1] The story played out in a single room, where exactly one dozen jurors debated their assignment to decide the fate of a defendant charged with murder — the penalty for which would be death. This weekend, our Saline High School (SHS) Drama Club ....

Here’s how to download and make personal use of most Saline Journal photographs, without asking, free of charge

March 4, 2019
From the Editor— There’s a saying among professional Nikon photographers (perhaps others, too): If you want people to stop asking what brand of camera you use, affix a black piece of tape over its name. [1] Somewhat of an inverse corollary appears to have been prompted by a reference that I made to Creative Commons licensing in my February editorial. [2] Without getting into the legal particulars, an image becomes the sole property of the ....

Update To Santa’s “List” Located In Saline (None Naughty, All Nice), Although “Sleigh” Appears To Be A Silverado

November 22, 2018
The spirit of Christmas giving was clearly not about to wait for Thanksgiving to pass this year. Example for today: The Bottomless Toy Chest donation drive. Pun intended. [1,2] Spearheaded by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, its aim is to expand the ‘Tons of Toys’ Holiday Event” for this 501(c)(3) not-for-profit by encouraging communities to literally fill pickup truck beds in local showrooms with gifts for children with extreme medical challenges. In Saline, that means Bill ....

Fourth Annual Michigan Humane “Mega March” Provided a Fun Way to Help Dogs

October 6, 2009
Each year Michigan Humane Society holds a signature walk-a-thon through the streets of downtown Detroit to raise funds that will help find homes for dogs in need. This goes toward financing support for more than 100,000 animals each year. [1,2,3] The organization describes this as the largest walk on behalf of animals in Michigan. This march also helps raise awareness about cruelty and neglect. I arrived for this event on Sunday thinking there would be ....
