Briarwood Ford “Drive One 4UR School” Event This Saturday Could Bring $6000 + $2000 = $8000 to Saline Music Boosters

As any good teacher or parent would say, “Check your math.”

By now you’ve already hopefully marked your calendar to visit Harvest Elementary School some time between 9:00am and 5:00pm on May 19 to briefly test drive a current model Ford vehicle. No obligation, no sales pitch. But when you fill out a survey after that drive, Ford Motor Company will donate $20.00 to Saline Music Boosters. [1,2,3,4]

Don’t worry: You don’t have to do any studying before you take the survey and the questions aren’t hard or tricky.

You probably also know that Briarwood Ford is our local sponsor for this event, as they have been for a half-dozen years or so now. Dealership General Manager Steve Whitener told Saline Journal that he’ll have around fifteen vehicles there for what’s formally called the “Drive One 4UR School” event; look for two-each there of the most popular ones. [5,6]

If heading out is a spur-of-the-moment thing for you, expect to wait anywhere from zero to ten minutes on average for you turn behind the wheel. Mornings are typically busiers than later in the day.

Based on past years and 2018 so far, what does Mr Whitener expect to be most popular this Saturday?

“It depends on the person, what the family needs,” he answered.

“But the choices people make at Harvest are often very different than what they schedule to test drive at the dealership. For example, they’ll come in having done their research and narrowed what they want to a single model or so. Then they see a Mustang and you know they’d like to take it out — and I’d like them to take it out even if it’s not a contender — but they seem to have a voice in their head saying that they’re not allowed to.”

Rest assured that there are no such voices to be heard anywhere around Saline Journal. In fact, a visit to the dealership earlier today provided an opportunity to start a wish list here.

There’s no limit on the number of people who will be given the opportunity to participate between the hours specified. But the $20.00 donation is limited to the first three hundred drivers.

Wait a minute!

Did someone miss simple multiplication in math class? Multiply three hundred drivers times $20.00 and that only gets to $6,000, not $8000. How does Saline Music Boosters get that additional $2,000? Rather than risk a failing grade, this additional question was put to Mr Whitener.

“If you drive either a 2018 Expedition or EcoSport after your first test drive, Ford will donate an additional $10.00 to Saline Music Boosters,” he answered, “up to a total of $2000.”

That’s all the more reason to count yourself in this Saturday. See you then at Harvest Elementary!
