“Thunder Over Michigan” air show has been cancelled for this year, reported Astana Gaffney on July 7, 2020 in the Detroit Free Press.

“For the first time in 21 years, there won’t be an air show hosted by the Yankee Air Museum. The Thunder Over Michigan show, which was going to be held on Aug. 29-30 2020 at Willow Run Airport, has been canceled.” The COVID-19 “pandemic and the restrictions that come with it made it impossible to hold the show, which typically draws tens of thousands of spectators and hundreds of volunteers ….

“The museum, a nonprofit that educates visitors on aviation history, closed back in March.” Museum event director Kevin Walsh “said it has accrued a $650,000 deficit during the closure. The museum reopened on June 30.”
