National average retail price for regular unleaded gasoline got up to $5.004 per gallon this morning, according to American Automobile Association (AAA).

According to Daniella Genovese, reporting for Fox Business, “It’s the highest the group has seen case prices rise [to] since it started tracking the data in 2000, and it’s likely to get worse as oil demand continues to outpace global oil supply, driving barrel prices even higher, AAA spokesperson Devin Gladden said.

As of Saturday [June 11, 2022], prices at the pump are 63 cents higher than they were a month ago and nearly $2 more than a year ago, according to AAA data.

Broadly, AAA noted the following unleaded price points.

  • Regular at $5.004 per gallon
  • Mid-Grade at $5.371 per gallon
  • Premium at $5.666 per gallon
  • Diesel at $5.765 per gallon
  • E85 at $4.325 per gallon

According to a graphic posted to its “Gas Prices” website, AAA indicated $6.430 to $5.228 retail prices per gallon in ten states (its highest-tier category).

The State of Michigan ranked in its second-highest tier, with $5.227 to $5.015 per gallon retail prices.
