Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) will bring attention to “painful, deadly, scientifically useless heart failure experiments” at Wayne State University, starting at 10:45 am on March 31. In its eMail to Saline Journal, HSHV stated the following.
Every year around March 31, the National Institutes of Health inexplicably sends Wayne State University another sizeable check to subject dogs to painful, deadly, scientifically useless heart failure experiments. But this year we are joining the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in using that date to call for change!
Please join all of us March 31 in Detroit for a peaceful demonstration led by physicians.
♦ When: Thursday, March 31, 10:45 a.m. to noon
♦ Where: Sidewalk Outside the Louis M. Elliman Building -421 E Canfield St., Detroit,
♦ Parking: Please use nearby public parking.
♦ RSVP: None is required, but you can RSVP on Facebook.
Signs will be provided! People will be there, rain or shine.
The event will commemorate 136 dogs killed by Wayne State since 2009. Dog beds and collars with tags featuring the name or number of each dog will be lined up on the sidewalk. You’ll be asked to hold a sign calling on the university to end cruel dog experiments and modernize their research using human-relevant methods.
Hope to see you there!
