Beware …. Ransomware Threat!

The FBI warns the public about ‘BadUSB.’

These are thumb drives sent in the mail with official titles such as ‘US Department of Health and Human Services,’ ‘COVID-19 Information,’ [and] Best Buy or Amazon ‘gift card,’ et cetera.

They contain malware programs such as keyloggers and ransomware.

Such programs can instantly send personal data to the suspects, while locking up your computer.

Although the scam has been an existence for a while, the potency of the malware payload has never been so significant. As always, use extreme caution when receiving any unexpected offers.
