News Release on regional collection of Christmas gifts “to benefit The Bottomless Toy Chest

Canterbury Village and Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers come together during holiday stroll to bring toys, joy, and hope to sick children

Starting November 24th

All toys collected to benefit The Bottomless Toy Chest

Canterbury Village in Lake Orion is pleased to announce their partnership with Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers this holiday season. Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers (MDCD) are the presenting sponsor for Holiday Stroll, along with being a charitable partner to collect toys for The Bottomless Toy Chest.

The Bottomless Toy Chest is a local non-profit organization devoted to delivering empowering toys, craft projects, and interactive activities to hospitalized pediatric oncology patients. Their mission is to lift the spirits and promote a positive state of mind in young cancer patients by providing them with engaging, empowering activities while they are going through treatment.

Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers have been a supporter of this organization for over 7 years through their 38 dealership locations and are now expanding this initiative to Canterbury Village.

Unwrapped and new toys can be brought to Canterbury Village to be donated to support these children. Donations are accepted November 24th through December 23rd, Saturday-Sunday, 10:00am-6:00pm during shopping hours and weekends 6:00pm-9:00pm during the Holiday Stroll (ticketed event). Canterbury Village is located at 2325 Joslyn Court. in Lake Orion.

All gifts donated should be new and not wrapped in wrapping paper. Suggested items for children ages infants-18 years old include rattles, sound and sight toys (12-36 months), Legos, crafts, superhero action figures, play-sets, Creativity for kids, sports team hats, sports and Nerf balls, headphones, journals, remote control cars, make-up, nail polish, Craftabelle, adult coloring books, Crayola colored pencils and gift cards ($10-$20 denominations) for Amazon, X-Box Live, Meijer and Walmart.

By providing toys this helps empower, encourage, and bring happiness to hospitalized children. It also helps their mind come away from focusing on being sick and just be able to smile and play, which is what all children’s focus should be on.

The Bottomless Toy Chest delivers toys weekly to pediatric cancer patients at area hospitals including Children’s Hospital of Michigan (Detroit and Troy), Beaumont Children’s Hospital, CS Mott Children’s Hospital, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Sparrow and St John Providence.

Canterbury Village is located at 2325 Joslyn Court, in Lake Orion. November 24th through December 23rd, all unwrapped, new toy donations can be placed in the Chevrolet Silverado, which will be parked next to the 43-foot Christmas Tree in the shopping corridor for Canterbury Village. The Silverado has always been known as a truck that’s built on the legacy of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickup, which is why it has been chosen to collect and deliver all these toys to these special children that will provide a memorable experience for them all.
