On the heals of Reformation Day, Baptist News revisited challenges to “the internal church storyline that the proliferation of Protestant denominations was due to intra-church theological disputes.”

Citing work by H Richard Niebuhr published nearly a century ago, author Robert P Jones  focused on arguments set out to address the “evils of denomination” based not in straightforward “honest theological disagreements between Christians of good will,” pointing instead to what he saw as “the acquiescence of Christians and churches to the prevailing prejudices of the boarder culture ….”
