In the nick of time! Earlier this week, one headline alerted: “As Movie Theaters Struggle, Farmers Are Running Out of Room for Unsold Popcorn.” See September 23 Mental Floss piece by Michele Debczak.

Thankfully, just yesterday Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-183, allowing movie theaters shuttered since mid-March of this year to re-open beginning on October 9.

Some twenty months and a pandemic later, the Pure Michigan Conference on Tourism returned as a more measured 2021 event

November 5, 2021
Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism returned to its annual in-person rotation among venues this week — which in 2021 meant the City of Detroit and our own Motor City Casino Hotel. [1-4] As a reflection of official state position on visitor attraction, organizer requirements regarding COVID-19 protocols were noteworthy. Proof of vaccination or “negative COVID test 72 hours before the conference” was required for attendance. Additionally, masks were “required, regardless of vaccination status in all indoor ....
Erwin Frederick, dedicating new Lodi Township Hall in Michigan

The “New” Lodi Township Hall Formally Celebrated Its Opening Twenty Years Ago Today

July 27, 2006
For some it’s hard to believe there was ever any other Lodi Township Hall, in any other place. Easily visible from Saline-Ann Arbor (though sometimes requiring a bit more effort, depending on crop growth), the current building is set a quarter-mile west down Pleasant Lake Road. That’s by design. The late Erwin Frederick, who served as Lodi Township Supervisor, once told Saline Journal parent D² Enterprises that this would help ensure that residents would “never ....

Awkwardly balancing recitation of origin stories, structured prose closed with a section dedicated to the Charles Dickens “classic holiday tale, A Christmas ....

April 13, 2019
You’re likely to get some argument in an effort to authoritatively bestow the title of “Saline’s Photographer” on any one individual. If your history extends no further than the digital age, an Internet search focused on geotags will score a great variety of results, from social sites and those with portfolios under captive URLs, to the University of Michigan online library. [1] Digging deeper, the Saline District Library has preserved back issues of The Saline ....
